Phelps makes dream start to GB4 season at Donington Park
Elite Motorsport’s Isaac Phelps made an outstanding start to his maiden GB4 Championship campaign at Donington Park, securing two pole positions, a race victory, a podium finish, and the Omologato One to Watch Award.
The weekend began in sensational style with Phelps topping the timesheets in qualifying. His lap of 1m27.724s, set in the final moments of the session, secured pole for race one, before his second-best lap ensured pole for race two as well. It was the perfect continuation of his pre-season testing form and gave him an early lead in the George Russell Pole Position Cup.
In race one, Phelps converted pole into a commanding lights-to-flag victory in his first-ever single-seater race. A strong launch off the line allowed him to build an early lead, which he maintained throughout despite late pressure as lapped traffic cut down his margin. He held on to take the flag by 1.3 seconds and mark his GB4 debut with a win.
The following morning’s race two saw more battles, with teammate Ary Bansal sweeping around Phelps at Redgate on the opening lap. Isaac remained close throughout and crossed the line in second place, securing a double podium for Elite Motorsport.
The reverse-grid race three provided another action-packed encounter. Phelps fought hard in the midfield after early contact forced him to pit for repairs, still, enough to bring home points towards the Championship.
His efforts across the opening two races earned him the Omologato One to Watch Award, presented to the highest-scoring driver across races one and two at each round.
Phelps leaves Donington Park firmly established as one of the early title contenders in the 2025 GB4 Championship.
