Phelps takes solid points in chaotic Oulton Park weekend

Elite Motorsport’s Isaac Phelps collected a haul of solid points at Oulton Park during a weekend of highly changeable weather and unpredictable racing in the GB4 Championship.

After topping multiple test sessions earlier in the week, Phelps went into qualifying with strong pace. He ultimately secured sixth fastest overall, though a grid penalty dropped him to ninth for race one. His second-best time meant he would line up fourth for race two, keeping him well in the mix at the sharp end.

Race one saw conditions swing dramatically as pre-race rain split the field on tyre choice. With many front-runners opting for slicks, those further back on wets carved through, creating one of the most dramatic races of the season so far. Phelps, starting on slicks, was hampered by the weather and finished just outside the points-scoring positions in 16th.

Race two brought more wet-dry drama but a far stronger result for Isaac. In a race that included an aborted start, a safety car, and even a disqualification reshuffling the order afterwards, Phelps fought inside the top five throughout. After the final classification was confirmed, he secured fourth place, his best finish of the weekend, narrowly missing the podium.

The final race on Sunday forced nearly the entire grid to start from the pit lane after last-minute tyre changes. Phelps kept his nose clean in the disorder and battled into the points, eventually classified in ninth place, ensuring more valuable championship points.
