Phelps fights at the front through competitive Snetterton weekend
Elite Motorsport’s Isaac Phelps showed strong pace throughout the GB4 Championship weekend at Snetterton, securing front row starts, a podium finish, and consistent points across all three races.
The weekend began positively on Friday, with Phelps setting the pace in testing. His best time of 1:48.206s in the final session put him fastest overall, edging teammate Ary Bansal by 0.058s.
In qualifying, the Elite pair continued their dominance. Phelps was locked in a tight battle for pole, briefly holding the top spot before Bansal reclaimed it at the flag by just 0.012s. Phelps therefore lined up second for race one, with his second-best time also good enough for P2 on the grid for race two.
Race one saw Phelps apply constant pressure on Bansal, running within half a second of his teammate for the duration. Despite multiple attempts to close the gap, he crossed the line less than 0.7s behind to secure second place and another podium finish.
In race two, Phelps again started from the front row and battled in the top four throughout. He chased down Douglas Motorsport’s Luke Hilton in the fight for the final podium spot, but despite pushing until the flag, he had to settle for fourth place.
The final race of the weekend was a chaotic encounter, featuring a lengthy safety car period after a first-lap incident. Once racing resumed, Phelps ran inside the top 10, finishing ninth at the flag to secure further valuable points.
